With the Digital World becoming increasingly face-paced and our attention spans becoming increasingly smaller, video now has an incredibly important role to play in Online Marketing. Decide on What Video Content Your Website Needs
But before we jump into the techy, nitty-gritty details, let’s take a look at the kind of video content you should be putting onto your Site. Get this component right and you could well see your sales sky-rocket. Get it wrong and it could be a bigger movie flop than Shark Attack Volume 3.
Make sure the content you choose is relevant to your Business or products. It should both entertain and inform your visitors and help to endear them to your Brand, or else demonstrate how effective your product is by showing it in action! You could use a video that you’ve created yourself and uploaded to YouTube, or it could be content from someone else – as long as you attribute the source, this is fine.
A Step-By-Step Guide to Adding Video to Your Site
Once again, WordPress makes this an extremely simple process, so you don’t need to be a tech guru to perform this task. Just sit back, read the instructions below, and soon you’ll feel like a regular Spielberg…well, kind of.
To insert a YouTube clip onto your site, you will firstly need to visit YouTube and go to the video clip you wish to insert onto your Site.
Under the video clip, you’ll see a button titled “Share”. When you click this, an option to “embed” appears underneath the video itself on that page.
Once you’ve clicked “Embed”, YouTube will generate a code, similar to this one: <iframe width="560" height="345" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/SSCS1xIutS8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>. This is a unique code specific to the video you’ve chosen and will allow you to put the video in a place of your choosing.
Next, simply copy this code from the Embed Box and then click back to your site CMS admin. So far, so easy, right!
Click on ‘Content’, then ‘Global Content Blocks’ and finally ‘Add Global Content Block’. Then untick the 'Turn WYSIWYG on/off' option, as this will allow you to see the visual of the content you’ve added, rather than the HTML.
Give the new block a name, and then paste the embed code into the content block content box and click save. Once you save this, you’ll notice a new block has been saved to the list with the name you have allocated to it, then all you do is copy the tag that is next to it. The tag should look something like this
But remember: you do need to replace 'your_block_name' with the name that you called the new block.
Then simply paste that tag into the page on which you want to display the YouTube clip on your Website and you’re done! It’s that easy!

While it may sound intimidating, adding YouTube video to your Website as part of your Marketing plan is a practical choice, as it could contribute to a massive increase in your conversion rates. It’s also an affordable solution if your Business isn’t ready yet to make its own promotional videos. Just make sure the content you select is highly relevant, high-quality, entertaining and useful to your viewers.
